Changes to our services during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Please note in order to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus we have had to make significant changes to our services.

  • From Monday 23rd March patients will not be able gain access to either of our sites unless you have been asked to attend by a staff member. A member of the clinical team will meet you at the door; they may wish to check your temperature before letting you inside. All staff will be wearing protective clothing, including masks and gloves - please do not be alarmed. 
  • We are operating a triage service for all patients requesting clinical advice or appointment with a GP/Nurse. In the first instance we ask that you do this by using the e-consult service on the homepage of our website. E-consult can only  be used if you are wanting advice about your own health and are over 16 years of age; if you need advice regarding anyone else please call the surgery.  
  • If you cannot use our e-consult service, you can call the surgery on 01590 622272/682617.
  • We are temporarily NOT accepting paper requests for prescriptions - please order your medication online, or email your request to whccg.nfcmg-enquiries@nhs.net (If you are unable to order via these methods please call the surgery and press option 2)
  • Due to necessary quarantine measures any post received will not be opened for 72 hours.

We have an increasing amount of patients sending in photos of their medical condition - please only send a photo of your ailment if you are asked to do so by a clinician following our triage process.


Practice Opening Times

Update (16.6.2020)  - The Practice has resumed its original opening hours. Our triage and attending for appointments process during the COVID pandemic remain the same (i.e. the practice is still closed to 'walk-ins'.

Testing

COVID Antibody Testing

The practice is NOT presently in a position to offer the recently announced Covid antibody test. 

The sensitivity of antibody tests is not yet clear: there are clear examples of people who were confirmed (through PCR testing) to have had Covid-19, but in whom the antibody tests remain negative.

It remains unknown if having antibodies for Covid19 will prevent reinfection.

It remains unknown if having antibodies prevents the ability to pass on the virus to others. 

The quality and duration of immunity is not yet clear. 

By the time the test becomes positive, the patient may no longer be infectious, so the test has little or no value in contact tracing and isolation.
